Board Members and Officers elections for the Term 2021-2023

The Middle East and Africa Duty Free Association held the elections of the board for the new term 2021 – 2023 during the virtual Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.

The Associate members selected the following board whilst the new board selected the committee officers as follows:

Mr. Sherif Toulan –    CEO, IDFTA Ltd. –  President
Ms. Isabel Zarza –    COO Central & North Europe, Russia and Africa –  Vice President
Mr. Karl Raphael –    CEO/ Chairman, Aphrodite SARL –  Secretary General
Dr. Bernard Creed –    Senior VP Finance, Dubai Duty Free –  Treasurer
Mr. Haitham Al Majali –    CEO, Jordan Duty Free Shops  
Mr. David Bisset –    CEO, Lagardère Travel Retail  
Mr. Frederic Garcia-Pelayo –    President, Tax Free World Association  
Mr. Richard Gray –    CEO, AerRianta International Middle     East  
Mr. Tarek Hamila –    Owner, Hamila Duty Free  
Mr. Alexandre Tabacoff –    Cluster General Manager, Dufry Sharjah  
Mr. Nicolas Van Brandt –    CEO, IDF Africa & Middle East DWC –      LLC  

The meeting also witnessed the election of the following board members to the Affiliate members under their respective groups to represent them in the MEADFA Board:

Mr. Roger Jackson –    Managing Director, Organico Solutions
Mr. Mazen Kaddoura –    Regional Business Development Manager  –  Mars International Travel Retail

Mr. Haitham Al Majali thanked the members for their support during his two (2) terms as the MEADFA President and wished the new board and officer’s success.

Mr. Sherif Toulan expressed his thanks to Mr. Haitham Al Majali and the outgoing officers for leading the association through turbulent times. He also welcomed the new Board members and wished the officers elected the best of luck in running the Association.

Mr. Toulan stated: “It is a pleasure and honor to be elected as the MEADFA President. My sincere gratitude to the members for their trust. A warm welcome to Roger and Mazen as new board members. They will bring a wealth of expertise in their field and will be an added value to our association. I am excited to work closely with the new appointed officers and grow the association stronger. MEADFA will make sure to be part of the industry recovery in the region, unification is key to overcome the current challenges and persevere. I highly encourage the stakeholders to join MEADFA and its efforts in the recovery phase.”
