The Emirates journey
Flying to over 140 destinations across six continents, Emirates is a global connector of people and places. In 1985, it launched with only two aircraft. Today, its fleet of over 230 wide-bodied aircraft is one of the youngest in the sky. Emirates made civil aviation history at the 2013 Dubai Air Show by placing the largest-ever aircraft order – 150 Boeing 777Xs, 35 Boeing 777-8Xs, 115 Boeing 777-9Xs and 50 Airbus A380s.
In the financial year 2013-14, Emirates welcomed 44.5 million passengers on board.
Growing at an average rate of more than 20% a year, Emirates is one of the world’s fastest growing airlines. It has achieved a profit for the last 26 consecutive years, declaring a net profit of US$887 million in the 2013-14 financial year.
A new era of travel
Emirates has the biggest A380 fleet in the world, with more than 50 A380s flying to over 30 destinations. The fuel efficiency of this double-decker aircraft makes it one of the most environmentally advanced aircraft in the sky.
On board, extra room and custom lighting create a new class of Economy. The exclusive Onboard Lounge is the perfect space for First Class and Business Class travellers to make new friends over cocktails and canapés. In First Class, customers can retreat to their own Private Suite and take a shower mid-flight to arrive fully refreshed.
